Antuco Volcano rises within Laguna del Laja National Park, in the foothills of the Biobío Region. The climb crosses volcanic scoria fields and lava flows — remnants of the violent eruptions that shaped the area — up to a summit with views over Laguna del Laja, Chile's largest natural reservoir.
It's a demanding mountain outing, with much of the route over loose volcanic terrain. Trekking season runs from October to April.
